Moon Birds
When the saying a piture speaks a thousand words it couldn't be more true on some pictures. The following picture showing the ravens in the foreground of a terrifc-looking moon is great. Obviously this took a bit of manipulation and it appears to have been well worth it.

Right Moment in the Forest
When you're out hiking you just never know when the moment presents itself to you, you've got to be ready to take the shot. In this picture, the sun's rays were peering through the trees from above and to the left and just exactly striking the stump perfectly for just the right light.

Clear Gull
Sometimes, when you're lucky, you get a clear shot of a flying bird; this happens to be one of those moments when a Gull was flying overhead and its eyes were in clear view of the lens, couldn't help but take the shot and it really came out well.

Seagulls Overhead
Sure we see Seagulls rather often. We think of them as the garbage scroungers of human waste, but at least they're not as bad a pigeons. But, when in flight, Seagulls are rather majestic as they hover in the lofty winds.

Desert Cold
Part of the desert cold weather. When you think of the Mohave Desert you don't really relate cold, icy conditions, but the weather can change in a heartbeat during the winter. Take a look at the tree below, there were high cross-winds and icy conditions. This is rarely seen in the desert, but this is an exception.

Balloons
This morning was very calm, no winds, and not oppressingly hot. Because the conditions were good we received a glimpse of a couple balloons flying over. Now, these were shot with a 1200 mm lens while walking so they are not the sharpest, but they came out. If you haven't tried balloon rides I highly recommend it. When these balloons were captured in flight they were flying over household neighborhoods. They set down shortly after these pictures were taken because the winds were increasing quickly.

Moon Shot 2018-08-18
A moon shot from 2018-08-19. The moon is an interesting subject to shoot. With the naked eye we can't see very much detail, but once you can zoom in with a telephoto lens, the moon's terrain becomes much more apparent. Shooting the moon is never tiring because our view of it varies with the atmospheric conditions and because of the Earth's shadow on the moon.

Cloud Sunset 2018-08-13
This is a shot facing East as the sun was setting low in the sky. The clouds were amazing looking. If you zoominto the picture and look at the center section where the clouds are darker than those in the background, you will see the clouds in front are producing a shadow on the clouds behind. Again, if you click the photo to get a look at the full-sized image you will better discern what I'm referencing.
These clouds were likely a thousand feet or taller, as you can see the botom of the clouds were only a few hundred feet above the landscape.
Quite amazing how large and alive the clouds can appear in the sky, the changes are often striking.

Lightning Shots with Cell Phone
These lightning shots were captured with a cell phone. It's tough enough to capture lightning with a DSLR and with a cell phone, it's a little more tricky. Even though the pics did not come out the best, they are still not bad. All these shots were captured in the Arizona deserts. The clouds rolled in furiously and the storm was, pun intended, electric.

A Super Moon - Sierras
How often do you see a supermoon? When you do see it, what exactly does it look like to you? In this depiction, the supermoon is peering over the peaks in the Sierra Nevada. Two great shots.
